If you’re feeling exhausted and speechless by the deluge of the election season, and in need of peaceful decompression, without having to translate emotions into words, consider this a temporary escape—an interlude with Yellowstone National Park “winterkeeper” Steven Fuller in this documentary by The Guardian.

For years, Yellowstonian co-founder Todd Wilkinson has been a contributor to The Guardian and, beyond that, written several profiles over the years about Steve Fuller, whom he met in 1982 at Canyon Village when he was a cook for the local concessionaire. One of his profiles is featured in a forthcoming revised edition of the award-winning Ripple Effects: How to Save Yellowstone and America’s Most Iconic Wildlife Ecosystem that features updates following recent election results. Exploring key issues shaping the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, it will be available in late December.

Meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy this short 12-minute documentary inspired by that profile. It is directed by The Guardian‘s David Levine and Laurence Topham, and produced by Lindsay Poulton and Max Benato. Now in his final winter at Yellowstone, Fuller is planning to write a regular column that will appear at Yellowstonian. Also look for public events featuring his photography coming in winter.
