Author: Tim Crawford

The late Thomas H. “Tim” Crawford was a longtime resident of the Gallatin Valley and businessman who had an office on Main Street in downtown Bozeman where he became the first to finance the renovation of a historic building. He was also a farmer, professional photographer, social commentator, gun collector, lifelong conservationist who loved to hunt and fish, and earlier served as an elected member of the town council in Ketchum, Idaho. The Crawford Theater located in the Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture is named after him and his wife, Kathy. The couple protected their farm along the East Gallatin River with a conservation easement achieved in collaboration with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust.  In 2025, Kathy Crawford made an unprecedented donation to Montana State University on behalf of Tim and herself to provide scholarships for students in every discipline to pursue study that advances land conservation and public awareness about the value of the natural world.
